The Brause Rose nib is known for its strength and remarkable flexibility, featuring a fine point and crafted from hardened steel with an elegant engraved rose. Originally a vintage design from Brause, it was reintroduced several years ago to much acclaim.
This nib performs well on both slightly textured and smooth surfaces, making it ideal for modern calligraphy styles. However, its high level of flex may be challenging for beginners to control. It excels in creating thick downstrokes (also known as swells or shades) and delivers impressive contrast between fine hairlines and bold swells—something that is difficult to achieve with other G nibs like Nikko, Zebra, or Tachikawa.
Perfect for larger font sizes, this nib is similar in size to the Nikko G but offers a more dramatic range in line variation.
